Just to start things off I would like to introduce myself. For the sake of all you my fellow readers, may call me Saitou. I am a first generation born Vietnamese-American who lives in California. Am currently a senior in high school and getting ready to attend university.
As most Americans, I was not exposed to massive amounts of Anime. My first taste of anime was that of the epic fighting series Dragonball. Dragonball got me hooked the first time watching it. The intense fighting scenes, storyline, animation, and the occasional super-saiyan scream :D. Soon after Dragonball, I saw Sailor Moon. Haha don't get me wrong, but Sailor Moon was also a great anime. Loved it. Highschool girls in sailor suits fighting crime, what else could be better than this.
I later discovered Cartoonnetwork's Toonami. I now had the chance to take in more of these cartoons from the land of the rising sun. Anime's such as FLCL, .hack/sign, Gundam, Case Closed: Detective Conan, Samurai Champloo, Big-O, Tenchi Muyo, Card Captor Sakura, Outlaw Star, and many more i do not wish to bore you all with.
Then Summer of '06 i learned of Fansubs, watching my first ever subbed anime Suzumiya Haruhi no Yuutsu. Twas an amazing experience, the quality of the subs that these people generated was fantastic. The voice acting was even more astonishing cause it seemed that the Japanese put in more heart into their characters rather than the American counterparts who dubbed most anime in America. With this, i became more interested with Japan, and the Japanese culture. I wished to learn the language and i vowed that i will one day visit japan and maybe never come back :D. Well maybe not. Though it seems to be a great idea.
My plan after high school is of course to attend University, there i will study my major and also study the Japanese Language. I plan to go to Japan after i graduate college and hopefully network with some people and get recommendations to work there. But untill then, must make my way towards that goal.
